Just another WordPress site
when
what used to topple
the inner balance
is suddenly received
as an insignificant incident
annoying no doubt
yet not overruling
it might be
an expression
the priority
of the inner hierarchy
is being adjusted
perhaps
the gates to love
are opened
by obedience
rather than by
desire
the role of desire being
the wish
to obey
so desire is not to be
suppressed
rather acknowledged
and liberated
as the natural flow of desire
will always be
towards
obedience
the question being
what we obey
when dying is
no longer
dangerous
when obedience
is not a matter of sacrifice
but of grace
when the one to be counted on
never fails
there is indeed
no reason to be
afraid
the frustration of
being given a promise
which is not redeemed
being told a reality
which is not real
believing
the confusion
it engenders
is of one’s own
lack of faith
when cuddling into
the illusion
of being
a good person
is no longer an option
the certainty
that whatever good
is running through our deeds
comes from elsewhere
seems more plausible
and the habit to please
other peoples
caprices
has no longer any reason
to be
receiving an angel
can in itself be
a daunting experience
being carried through the day
by an army of angels
is beyond words
and yet
so real
being in the proper place
at the proper time
means
a constant listening into
the call
of the present moment
in order to give
the proper answer
and leave
when where we are
is no longer where
we are supposed to be
to observe
the eager to convert
withdraw
like a shadow
retracting under the presence of light
might be
the beginning of
a conversion into mercy
when vulnerability
is no longer considered
a weakness
as something to be ashamed of
and overcome
on our own
since
entering it means
being a burden
and being a burden means
losing what we need
to stay alive
it is no longer a question of staying alive
but about being alive
even while
dying
trying to make mercy
fit into the law
is a dangerous game
so utterly tempting
in the eager
to justify
what can only be received
as
mercy
